In 2021, a core group was structured within the legal department, called the Governance Secretariat, which – in addition to gathering all the Association’s corporate information – will control how we participate in other public and private institutions, through meeting minutes and terms of office. In 2022, the next step will be to migrate this control to digital platforms, thereby facilitating monitoring.
Our Members are our raison d’être: We closed out the year with 291 member institutions, including commercial banks, full-service banks, investment banks, brokers, distributors and management firms, 8% more than in the previous year. There were 25 new members, including 20 management firms – a category that accounts for 49% of all Anbima member institutions.
Another relevant fact is the record number of 1,232 institutions that follow our codes of best practices: Certification, Third-Party Asset Management, Distribution of Investment Products, Trading, Public Offers and Qualified Services. Most of the institutions adhere to the Third-Party Asset Management and Certification codes.
These institutions are present in 13 Brazilian states and in the Federal District, in all five regions of Brazil.
We use different tools and communication channels to hear what members have to say and provide transparency to information. As the pandemic continues, we remain focused on digital communication in 2021: in addition to the constant presence on Workplace, 337 messages were sent to the 1,348 participants in our WhatsApp group, and 259 via our Telegram group, which has 2,934 participants.
Market professionals are multipliers of information and good practices. Our actions for these stakeholders are divided into two aspects: certification and continuing education. The first is our certification program, responsible for preparing more than 520 thousand professionals over 19 years with CPA-10, CPA-20, CGA, and CEA credentials. Parallel to this, we maintain our continuing education program, with a series of refresher courses offered free of charge.
The year 2021 was particularly special in the field of certifications, because the new certifications for resource management activities entered into force.
